Although November is the time for all the giant blockbusters to release, September also has a few big hitters releasing. All the games release on September 6th, except for Gears of War 3, which releases on the 20th of the same month.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine:
Space Marine is a refreshing new series in a much neglected genre. This third person fast paced hack-n-slash/ shooter puts you in the boots of well.. A SPACE MARINE. The base storyline is very similar to Halo’s. You’re a modified superhuman with the title of a Marine, defending humanity. The developers have promised only a few simple adjectives: beautiful, gory, in-your face action.
Driver San Francisco:
I remember back in the PS1 days playing the first driver. For its time, it was out of this world. Being able to run from the cops and being in a car chase was exhilarating and priceless. Ubisoft is hoping to achieve that same feel again in a new generation. This classic free roaming car chase game with its unique atmosphere and mechanics will have 120 fully licensed cars ranging from VW Buggies, to Lamborghinis. Multiplayer is also being introduced for the first time to the series. There is also a collector’s edition which features a replica of a 1970 Dodge Challenger, an exclusive map, 3 extra cars, and 4 extra challenges.
Rise of Nightmares:
While the Kinect has literally broken a world record for sales, it has not delivered much in terms of games. The few games that have been put out are really only child’s games, and nothing really for the “hardcore” gamer. Rise of Nightmares is here to make a dramatic turnaround. This is going to be the most hardcore horror experience ever. Being Kinect only, the controls will use the entire body. This first person horror adventure delves into a whole new way of delivering fear.
Dead Island:
Dead Island will be a zombie hackin’, semi-sandbox, open world game. What makes this zombie game really special is that it will be played in first person. Dark scenes where you need a flashlight, and attacks coming from unknown places all up-close and personal should make this a satisfying zombie game.
Resistance 3:
Resistance 3 is probably the most hyped game ever for the PS3. It is for the PS3 what Gears of War is for Xbox. This is also one of the most heavily funded games in history. Insomniac Games wanted to bring the PS3 community the next generation of games. Gameplay, graphics, and mechanics are going to be about as top notch as technology allows for at the moment. Resistance 3 will also feature PlayStation Move support as well as stereoscopic 3D.
Gears of War 3:
And here it is. The conclusion to the trilogy that needs no introduction. With the giant success of the beta that ran earlier this year, Epic Games is confident this final installment will leave fans satisfied. This genre defining third person shooter is going to be one of the most visually, and mechanically advanced games out there.
